Well, I go away for a few weeks and the site collapses without me!
Nice to have it back up and running as I was getting worried. I got back from Sudan a few days ago having survived the desert and looking forward to hearing from you all again.

Welcome back WiA :) I suppose on the plus side of the boards going down, it means that people who have been away have less to catch up on :)
Actually, while we're on that subject... Does anyone know why the boards went down in the first place? Bug? Maintenance? Other? Not a clue? Just wondering :)

Karibu WiA. I'm in Nairobi for a conference w/b 16th May. Are you there around that time for a Tusker?

Re: Back in town by Wild in Africa on 16 March 2005 7:15pm

Thanks folks. Spent half my time in Khartoum and half in Darfur. Both very hot (40 degrees plus) dusty, and in the case of Darfur fairly hazardous although on this occasion, unlike previous trips did not really get right out into the Bundu and spemt too much time in meetings etc. Enjoyed starlit tropical nights sleeping under the desert stars (too hot to sleep indoors). Spent an exhilerating afternoon roadtesting local drivers on their 4 wheel drive skills on the sand dunes outside the town of El Fasher.

Tusker, I could be in Nairobi about that time (though I have to check dates as I will also be in France sometime around then too) as I am expecting to travel into southern Sudan from Kenya soon as well.
By the way I do get a weekly Tusker from an Asian Duka around the corner from me here in urban Berkshire!

Glad to see you back safe and sound WiA. Did your baby miss you!

Did you have a chance to try the canned Chinese chicken? With or without bones?

I'm sorry if this is meaningless. This is one of my favorite parts of MP's trip through the Sudan on the train.
