commonwealth cemeteries by louvre on 11 May 2005 3:09pm

Myself and my brother-in-law have just completed visiting every ww1 commonwealth cemetery in France and Belgium and our website can be found at www.ww1cemeteries.com. I know from past experience that Michael has done a commentary on how the commonwealth war graves commission came into being and it is extremely informative. You can obtain a copy at www.cwgc.org just go to
their publications page. All proceeds go to the war graves commission and the excellent work they do in maintaining the graves of thousands of soldiers throughout the world.

My Grandfather was in WW1 and served with the RAMC, on the back of a battered and torn photo that belonged to him, there was the name of a village in France - and yes your website has the corresponding cemetery. My Grandfather survived, but as he died a good few years before I was born, and my father died when I was young, the Internet is my only real source of finding out where he served. I'd like some day to visit the cemetery, as I'm sure there are men laid to rest there that my Grandfather tended to, and I want to pay my respects - thanks for such a great site!!
