Around The World In Farty Haze by James O'Shea on 15 June 2005 8:05pm

I came across a travel book in my local bookshop yesterday called 'Around The World In Farty Haze' by Simon Fawkes (at least I think that was the author's name). It looked a very humorous book and on the back was a quote from a newspaper saying the author was "like Michael Palin with wind". As I'm a huge Palin fan this caught my attention.

Has anyone read this book and is it any good? If so, I'll get a copy.

James

James

Iím reading this book at the mo Ė I ordered it from Amazon UK and it arrived yesterday. Iíve only read the first 2 chapters so far but I can say what Iíve read is very funny and entertaining. I can see why it has been compared to MP with wind Ė itís his sort of style of travel writing (although perhaps a bit more youth-oriented) but interspersed with episodes of upset stomachs and his problems of diahorrea and wind, but told in a humerous self-deprecating way. If the rest of the book is as good as the first 2 chapters then I think you wont be disappointed with it.

Cheers

Gav

PS Oh and yes the author is Simon Fawkes

Well I've read chapters 3 and 4 now and they are superb as well - the bit about the dolphin on the menu in Florida and asking if it was tuna-friendly had me in stitches.

The back page has a link to the author's website www.simonfawkes.info which has more info and from where you can get signed copies - I wish I has known about this before I bought it from Amazon - still such is life!

Glad I read this thread - at first it looks like a troll thread!

BTW he must have been eating the FISH dolphin, renamed Mahi Mahi in most places.

why doesnt someone order a copy signed by simon and dedicated to michael - give it to him for christmas - that would be cool! - no charge for postage for uk orders in june apparently and the books are signed with a dedication too - think they cost £8.99?
