HOW WAS IT FOR YOU? LIVE8 that is. by perfectbitch on 3 July 2005 12:23am

The Who still REALLY ROCK. Yes. I'm sure the Floyd were nervous and they did ok. But the Who ROCKED

did they smash their guitars?

i loved coldplay and rem - but will have to wait for the replay to record them as i missed the beginning of the concert

i love the concept of the concert and hope that we do make poverty history - well some of it anyway i am sure it will never go away completely but we can try - its always good to be a part of something like this - i did manage to go to the classic response concert in march for the tsunami appeal and that was recorded, it gave a lovely sense to feel that i was there - i hope that a lot of good will come out of live8 - hopefully the world will change for the better

if you see some one without a smile give them one of yours

There wasn't any guitar smashing as it happens and , of course, 2 of the originals weren't there but they were musically tight and although Daltry's voice has lost some range, he sang with heart.

I thought Snow Patrol did a good job in not using any swearwords as Madonna and Razorlight just before them were the only ones I heard that did.
I also liked the various worldwide links that were made from and to the cities holding Live8 concerts.
This was a great technical achievement.

I didn't start watching it until about 9 pm (recorded the rest). I thought The Who were brilliant, so was Sting, Paul McCartney, etc. etc. I do wish I had been there!

Although I was rather disappointed that the children from the African choir, who appeared with Maria Carey, did not sing on their own! Seeing it was all about Africa....

Fine until certain performers felt it nescessary to start using the word "F***K". Why do people feel the need to do that? Do they think it somehow makes them more credible? Madonna was the worst. Here i was thinking she had cleaned up her act, coming in wearing that nice gear, and after a few minutes it was "Make some F*****G noise, Hyde park". Silly persons!!

Well of course U2 were the best by far (but then you'd expect me to say that, wouldn't you!!)- so classy. When is Bono going to be recognised for the work he does fighting against world poverty and setting up DATA? Yes I know he's Irish, but, like Bob Geldof it could be honorary??

Great to see The Who and Pink Floyd again - although I couldn't help thinking that the latter looked like a group of old men who'd got together for a singalong at the Home For Ancient and Retired Rock Stars and were looking forward to their horlicks! I love them really! Just wish they'd played Arnold Layne!

I still miss Keith Moon from The Who - what a character he was!

Oh - and what a treat to see my favourite guitarist - Slash (apologies to Edge, but I'm being honest!!!)!

I sort of agree about the Floyd Anne - perhaps they should have performed before the Who as my mood went from speedy elation to slow nostalgia. Arnold Layne would have been a plus and anything pre Dark Side. RIP Keith and John.
