Do Not Adjust Your Set--Wotta buncha cuties! by Helen on 7 September 2005 12:41pm

I just got my DNAYS featuring Terry Jones, Ewic Idle and a newlywed Michael Palin...
worth it just to see Michael dancing around in an ill fitting Batman costume.

My goodness they are so cute and funny and young and randy and darling! What a sweet show! It also introduced me to the talents of David Jason and Denise Coffey...and the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah band!!! HOT DAMN!
Python fans--this is a must.. you can clearly see the silly and demented glimmer of Python rearing its head.. a delight!

Off to order "At Last the 1948 Show" featuring that marvelous hunk of a man, John "The Guts" Cleesey and Graham "I'm a Red Sea Pedestrian" Chapman. Oh goody goody...

I finally did find "The Best of Eric Idle" at a Target store. They did not have MP's, rat bastards!

I found a carton with both MP & EI's "Bests" at Costco, hidden under an even larger carton of "Friends". I reversed the hierarchy.

..Costco is where I found them! $10.99 for those interested!

Do Not Adjust Your Set was awesome! I totally agree. I was a bit disappointed by At Last the 1948 Show, though. There were some good bits, but they only have around 5 episodes on the DVD, and the extras are identical to the DNAYS dvd extras. Still worth a viewing though for Python fans, although DNAYS blows it away!
Also, do you think they will eventually release the Personal Bests as a boxed set? If so, I think I will hold out...

Now, Ripping Yarns is excellent! I have the video tapes, but I hear there are amazing commentaries and lots of extras. let us know what you think of the extras, please!

The extras are lovely, chatty commentaries by MP & TJ on all 9 episodes, a deleted scene of Jehovah Wittnesses at the door(which could have remained deleted with no great loss), examples of the digital restoration and "Comic Roots", a 1983 doc/home movie of MP with family and old friends. Nice.

We have our Ripping Yarns DVD signed by the great man himself!! (He put 'Ripping Best!!!, and said 'Oh good' when we handed it over to be signed in Worcester last year).
