Well, we've tied the record set in 1933.
Lucky me, I live on the coast and just got back from evacuation last week.

Come move up to Northern Idaho. No hurricanes, no earthquakes, only the occasional snowstorm. ;-) |

I just saw that last night. Come to Arizona. We just have heat and that you can learn to deal with if you use common sense.
Are you in Texas, Elizabeth?

Not sure I'd want to live in a place that has one type of weather dominate - I'm interested most of all in seeing Mother Nature at her most uncompromising and intense, so would probably live somewhere on or near the Gulf Coast to be near the hurricanes and twisters.... |

Well, I agree. The event of a hurricane has a romantic appeal to it. But, when the consequences puts such a tremendous strain on our everyday lives, it can get pretty grim. This hurricane season has been legendary and, hopefully won't repeat itself again soon. Everyone schedules and plans are just destroyed for awhile. It's not over yet, either. Florida had 4 hurricanes last year and is due to get another one this weekend. |

Mon. 10/24 update - Cape Canaveral is a-okay! I cannot reach my sister outside of Ft. Lauderdale - phones not working at her end. My sister-in-law in Ft. Laud. says they have no water or electricity. She asked if we could come get my mother-in-law. We physically can't - all routes are closed off between them and us. BWAHAHA! That's so wrong. My bad. |

Saw the reports on TV and my heart goes out to you. They said that the hurricane season still has 5 weeks to go. Is that true? Hope your mother manages to get away. Linz. |
