Surprising that it hasn't been mentioned

since October 14th, but it is indeed October 31st, and you know what that means-
Yes, it's the spookiest and eeriest time of year, the anniversary of the resignation of General Winfield Scott from the US army. Soon, kids will be putting on their circa 1850 army uniforms, going door to door and regailing the neighbors about the War of 1812 or the halls of Montezuma. That's unless there's have some other 10/31 tradition which they're more inclined towards. |

it's also my 9th wedding anniversary...
Hubby and I are going to spend too much money on rich and fattening food in a restaurant with a coat check, and then scoot back home and...um well..
...watch Poltergeist in the dark bedroom so we can pretend we're not home..
and then... um...yeah.. |

Oh I like that, Intrepid. Winfield Scott. That is a name I haven't heard in a while.
Halloween here is really combined with Dia de los Muertos. I have to laugh though. There is a kid about twelve across the street. For the last month, we've been greeted with "Happy Halloween, where's my candy?" We get an "ay caramba," when we laugh.
It's hard to pretend you aren't home. First year living here, we came home at 7. Our lights were off and it was dark. Suddenly, we approached and shadows approached behind us. There were about 100 people, kids and parents. We were the last house on the block to come home so everyone converged on us.
Happy Anniversary Helen!

thanks Cori and Mike... :)
so our fancy pants restaurant was CLOSED (the nerve!!) so the hubby brought home Indian food and I rented Poltergeist AND the remake of the Amityville Horror (it was really bad--glorious!)
Not one trick or treater attempted to rouse our dark and spooky abode.
Oh, and I bought dessert--Hostess cupcakes. Now those were good.

So your fancy restaurant closed, eh? Yes, you are just going to have to hunt them down and MAKE them reopen. Even at a loss, just for your dinner!! :-) Ther nerve...
