Where to next? - any guesses?? by Samoan Sam on 17 October 2002 11:38pm

Just like to say how great it is to see Michael out and about again.
Its facinating to experience the wide diversity of cultures and peoples from the comfort of your arm chair!
One place however I would love to see Michael visit is the South Pacific islands - any chance? (? in the pipeline?)

Anyone else got a suggestion?

The entire coast of Africa - kind of a Full Circle for Africa - start at Morroco, and circumnavigate the entire African continent by going through the coastal states...

Bit dangerous to do now though, with the wars in Ivory Coast & Sierra Leone, but I think it could be fascinating.

I mean, does anyone here know anything about countries like Togo or Benin or Guinea-Bissau??

Michael should include either Brazil, the Himalayan region that would include the Karakoram Highway or maybe Afghanistan in his next journey. Brazil should be considered as its one of the largest countries in the world with one of the highest populations. Go there when the Rio carnival takes place! Alright, he has already visited parts of the Amazon forest in Full Circle, however Brazil does not only have the Amazon forest. Of course Afghanistan would be fascinating after what has happened there recently. Although a little dangerous! The Himalayas is as interesting as the Sahara. Visit the Himalayas and then go into Mongolia!

Michael, if you should read this, please, please make the subcontinent of INDIA your next destination, I know you did cross it during the original series (Around the world.....) How ever, India is probably the ultimate platform for Michael Palinís great narrative style and incessant humour. What ever happens, thanks for all the great series so far!

Hold your horses, people!
Mr Palin is obviously obliged to visit Belgium! "Through Belgium in a half hour but in 60 different ways". (backward to begin with, followed by drunk, naked, dancing, by car) Put that on DVD! It would be a goldmine...

He once said he'd like to do a programme on the major religions of the world. It might make people less fearful or prejudiced if they knew a little about other peoples' religions.

I think Michael wouldn't go far wrong by visiting every single country in Europe. OK so many people have been to these countrys but whose been to all of them? and travelled in the unique Palin way.

IT DO'SNT MATTER WHAT JOURNEY IS NEXT, MICHAEL GIVES SO MANY PEOPLE PLEASURE AND ENJOYMENT. I COULD WATCH HIS PROGRAMS OF TRAVEL ALL DAY. IT CAN ALSO GIVE YOU IDEA'S WHERE YOU WOULD LIKE TO TRAVEL TO NEXT.

Follow in the footsteps of Marco Polo - it would include Europe and the Levant; Central Asia, and various bits of old Cathay. Probably not worth hitting Xanadu though. It would be a very varied (and tiring) overland journey, but hey, if they could do it hundrdeds of years ago .....

Hey, what about the other Full Circle-The Atlantic Ocean? Start in Liverpool and go all the way down and around. And maybe Michael can spend a bit more time in Canada. I was a bit disappointed at the amount of time Michael spent in Canada in the last Full Circle. But I really enjoyed the rest of it! just a thought.
