Hi all,
am thinking of visiting Oz, Perth in June. how will the weather be like? understand it's winter in June. will it have only 8 hours of sun?

Anybody in Perth? It's more southern than Brisbane, so it has longer sun than we do. We usually get about 10-12 in mid winter in Brisbane - surely Perth would have a longer twighlight than we do being more southerly?

For Perth in June, you`re talking early 20`s in terms of temperature and it starts getting dark just after 5pm.

Perth sounds similar to Brisbane at that time of year!

Perth in June will be delightful. Even though it is Winter you can still expect sun. The winds can be a bit ferocious so pack some warm clothes.

Things to see and do. Rottnest Island, 17 miles off the coast from Freemantle is great. You can catch a ferry from Perth itself, cruising down the Swan River, or pick it up from Freemantle. On the Island itself, there is a 2 hour guided tour that you can do or you can hire a bike to get around on. Apart from the bus and a few official cars, the bikes and on foot are the only way to see the Island. You can stay there overnight if you want. It's a grat place.

For some sandboarding fun you can take a trip north to Lancelin. Pinnacle Tours run a one day, 4WD tour from the Perth Sightseeing Centre in Hay St - includes the Pinnacles Desert in Nambung National Park with the sandboarding. Lots of fun.

You can see Aussie Rules in Perth aswell with their two local teams - West Coast Eagles and the Dockers - based at Freemantle.

What else are you interested in seeing, what other interest do you have and I'll see what else I can come up with.

Christine, if you see Mac at all in the chat room you can grill her...she lives in Albany which is just south of Perth.
She may also have something to add to Suis's wonderful list!
