The Coming War With China?

This is from an old Atlantic Montly article by their foreign correspondent Robert Kaplan. He lays out the groundwork for how China will be the number one economy in the world. That is not in doubt. Will it end up being a sort of Cold War or a hot war. It was interesting reading.
I tend to think a staredown is more likely.
There are several possible flashpoints. The world will change in the next 20 years.

no sh*t sherlock
the world always changes " i feel it in the water, i feel it earth, i smell it in the air....."
i don't think that China will be numero uno. praps it will be Europe or the butterfly.
any way something odd is happening to the world, there is so much chaos flying around its scary.
maybe King Arthur will return. well he is the once and future king. |

The bible prophesises - "The meek shall inherit the earth." I have often wondered in that relates to China. Linz |

Blessed are the cheesemakers or other associated with dairy products of all kinds!:-) (From Life of Brian). The Swiss will always survive. If you think about it, two major European rivers (Rhone and the Rhine) originate there. Switzerland dams up those rivers? Hmmmmm.
(All of East Asias major rivers originate in Tibet)...
The meek shall inherit the earth? Linz you are correct. That does not include China. I teach a little about Chinese philosophy in my classes. Christianity and the Chinese world view don't really cross paths.
Intrepid, if you are right Sao Tome is going to be rather crowded with people falling off.
British General Sir John Hackett in 1979 wrote the book The Third World War. His predictions except for the war actually being fought were right on the money. He predicted the end of the Soviet Union and the U.S. vs. China staring match.
I suspect the U.S. and China will be rivals but will try and avoid war, because no one wants to "kill" the golden goose.

I'm glad this is old speculation because the Chinese people we have in Scotland and in Vancouver are lovely people and their food is delicious. |
