Python parallels by EtherealCereal on 9 February 2006 4:48pm
Whilst watching Himalaya, one thing that struck me as odd was that certain Python sketches seemed to parallel parts of Michael's journey. Two that come to mind are:

1.'Himalaya' Scene: Border guards at Pakistan & India
Python sketch: 'A precision display of bad temper'
2. 'Himalaya' scene: Michael talks about Mount Everest
Python sketch: Either 'Travel Agent' or 'Everest Climbed by Hairdressers'.

Has anyone else noticed any parallels between Michael's journeys and classic monty Python sketches? It's rather silly, but worth mentioning.

Yes - definitely the Travel Agent sketch...

1. Sorry if this is a duplicate post - looks like my first attempt didn't go through.
2. What a fantastic pseudonym! EtherealCereal! That would be a great band name.

Okay. In SAHARA, in Tunisia, MP laid in bed and watched "Life of Brian" the day before he went to visit the site of the movie shoot.

But I agree, there was no more spontaneous Python moment than the India/Pakistan border ceremony.

It is worth mentioning. Even if silly. But if you are going to do silly, this is the right place. Yes, Python creeps into the adventures. This is why I am playing with my essay How Python has ruined my life.

Ooh so is Michael going to travel across the Andes by frog a la Ripping Yarns style?

I wish! HAHAHAHAHA. IS there such a thang?

TucsonMike, how did the Pythons ruin your life? I have some guesses: you're obsessed with them & whatever happens, or whatever you see, a Python-related thing comes to your mind... Well, yes, the same thing is happening to me.

Chris, it is completely tongue in cheek. Yes, I'll see something and a Python routine will come to mind.
