Jackanory by Spursfan on 15 February 2006 12:41pm

Just channel hopping last night (we'd had visitors for a few days and so were relaxing) came across a sort of tribute evening to the children's programme Jackanory (for non-UK folk, it ran for over 30 years until the 90's, and was basically an actor, comedian or someother type of star reading a story. Many famous people read stories).

Anyway, suddenly there was our hero, MP himself, in an exerpt from, well I'm not sure, possibly the 70's or 80's.

Didn't get chance to see which book he had read, as they were showing very short clips.

They then showed the whole of an episode where Rik Mayall read 'George's Famous Medicine' which was hilarious but which received loads of complaints from parents!!

Anyone else see him?

Was Jackanory the show with Zippy in it? A while ago Phyll sent a clip of that show all dubbed over and FULL of innuendos...hilarious!

Fnarr Fnarr ;)

Re: Jackanory by Clare on 15 February 2006 4:40pm

Jackanory was just a story telling show that used to be on when I came in from school. Each person would read a piece each day for a week roughly or until the story was finished. I think I read somewhere that MP read a few times, and each time it was his own books that he read. Not sure though.

Sorry Kazz, the programme you are thinking of is 'Rainbow' with Bungle, George and Zippy.
