The French Riveria by Orlaith on 28 March 2006 1:51am

Im going to the French Riveria for the summer with a couple of friends - we are planning on staying (and working) in Antibes and exploring the Riveria from there. Does anyone know anything about this area of France? Any info whatsoever would be great! Thanks.

It was over thirty years ago (I was a teenager) and we stayed in Menton but the Riviera was my favorite place in France. Sun, sea, beauty etc. I didnt get any girls there. LOL!

I, too, have stayed in Menton (many years ago)- we were attending a tennis tournament for a few days in Monte Carlo and it was cheaper to stay in Menton than Monte Carlo. It was Easter time and it was beautiful there. We travelled by car from Geneva.

We took the train along the Italian Riviera from Genoa. My father had a meeting in Menton. From there, we went to Monte Carlo and Nice. We had one bus trip up into the mountains to a place called Castellar.

Haven't been for number of years - but there are lots of campsites. Each site is sliced up between various companies - so opportunities for low paid work with tent / caravan as accommodation.
People recruited normally for whole season I believe.

We have decided to fly into Nice, book a hostel there for a week maybe and search for jobs over there. Apparently thats much easier than searching the internet. Either way, I will definitely get to see the south of France!!
