The Chatter Box : Blathering On
Google Earth by julwis on 21 April 2006 10:29pm
Just found this site online
the 3D earth download is particularly good. You can zoom from about 60ft right out to 38000 miles from Earth over quite a few countries.

Does it take up a lot of space on the computer?

I had a quick look at the site and there is a download required to access the free facility. Due to its content I'm sure it will take up a lot of space in the computer. It will probably need some time also to show the area you want to look at.

It is actully REALLY good and I have been able to zoom in on my own house and see my car parked outside!

The download is only about 11MB, and this generates a file around about 25MB in size on installation.
The data is stored on the Google server so you dont have actual satellite photos on your PC, which I agree would take up loads of space.
Ive only used it with a broadband connection, not sure how responsive it is on dial up.

Thanks, luckily I have broadband so it would not be a problem.
