(Wild) et al. Got to Meet the Sudanese. by tucsonmike on 16 June 2006 12:02am

I finally got to meet them at this great Ethiopian restaurant in town. I could eat with my fingers and not be told to stop playing with my food, LOL!

(I got roped into lifting boxes to help the Salvation Army later, but that is OK, I worked off lunch. Wont kill me).

Wild, you will have to let me know if you read the book Emmas War or knew the former aid worker it was about. I brought the book with me to lunch. Oh was THAT a conversation starter!:-)

These guys are a lot of fun. I look forward to doing the speech about them on July 9th. It is one thing to read the White Nile and the River War growing up. Quite another hearing about it.

I'll see what I can do for them. Something tells me my meeting later at Old Pueblo Trolley will be nowhere NEAR as interesting.

Good for you Mike and glad it went well. Sometimes eating with your fingers makes food so much tastier. We're going out for an Ethiopian meal this evening and I know my fingers will stink for days after but it's worth it as the food is so delicious.

I read 'Emma's war' a while ago. I never met Emma but I do know quite a few of the people referred to in the book, other UN and NGO staff. I spent a lot of the same time period involved in Sudan so inevitably I know a lot of people in common.

I'm off again to Kashmir this weekend so will be out of touch for a couple of weeks but if I get the chance to look in I will do so.
