The Chatter Box : Blathering On
Summer in Paris by julwis on 21 June 2006 11:24pm
Im rather fortunate this summer in being able to spend 3 months working in Paris, for a major pharmaceutical firm. I arrived a couple of weeks ago and have settled in nicely; Im also managing to experience a lot more of this city than I had before. Todays treat was the annual Fete de la Musique, in which the whole city, well certainly around most of Ile de la Cite, was positively throbbing to all sorts of themes. If this is a taste of what Bastille Day has in store then its going to be a whole lot of fun being around here.

Ooo ... I'm so jealous!!!

I would love to have an opportunity to live in another country for an extended period of time like that. I lived in Spain for 2 years while in the US Navy, but I was young and stupid and didn't know how to take advantage of a good thing when I had it!

Well good for you, Julwis! You will have to let us know what you do when you are there.

Thanks for your wishes. Im enjoying it here immensely, and everyones being very hospitable. Hoping to check out some of the places Michael went in the Hemingway series, I have my carte d'orange so getting around is really easy. Dont think Ill get to drive a tank up Les Champs Elysees though.

LOL! Something tells me driving a tank dans les Champ Elysee is kinda sorta reserved LOL!

I am sorry, I saw this thread again and all that keeps running through my sick mind is the Pink Panther.

Julwis, you should visit Harry's Bar in Paris. Hemingway visite it often, but Michael never mentioned it in his series. Beats me why he didn't.

That was the first place I went in Paris after a long flight and the bar tender gave me a drink that nearly knoced my socks off me. It was good, but , WOW, when I stood up from the stool, I almost fell over!!!!!!!!! I wrote about it in my journal that I could have been scraped off the floor! But it was a nice bar with lots of atmosphere.
