The Chatter Box : Welcome and Introductions
Agoraphobic Traveller! by nikon101 on 28 June 2006 12:48pm
Hello all,
My name is Paul and I live in Providence, RI, USA. I am agoraphobic. That is a fear of leaving the house. So I don't go anywhere! I'm a very frustrated traveller. I was able to go to Italy in the 1980s with medication to get on the plane.
It was the best 3 weeks of my life and all of my phobias were reduced or went away (and came back when I got back home)!
Anyway, I'm writing a non-commercial blog (it's a beginners blog) and I'd love you to take a look and please comment.
Thank you,

Welcome to the site, Paul!

Sorry to hear that you have agoraphobia but you have done well to overcome your fears and go to Italy. Let's hope you can go back there soon and your agoraphobia might go away again.

I too have been to Bergamo some time ago - it is a beautiful city. There was someone on this site not so longer ago who lives in Bergamo.

I like your blog, very interesting.

Welcome Paul and congrats for making it to Italy. I've never been, but I would like to one day, especially Florence, Sienna and Padua,of which I studied the 13th and 14th century art as part of my history degree.

I am from Stafford, which is the Midlands of England. I see you are from Rhode Island; my English teacher from age 11 to 16 was also from Rhode Island. She was great!

Best wishes

Hi Paul. I'm from Maryland. Italy is on my list of places to visit. I have been across the border to Sterzing and to ski in Zurs, but that's all. Some day I plan to go again to enjoy the art, the antiquities, mountain towns, etc.

Welcome to Palinstravels and enjoy your time with us.

Hi Paul, well I am sorry about the Agoraphobia, but admire your courage. Great blog. I see you are from Providence. I have the Red Sox game on at the moment. I am married to a Bostonian.

Hello Everyone,
Thanks so much for the replies.
I really feel welcome here - this is a great forum. Maybe it's because we all appreciate Michael & Monty Python?
Great community, I hope that you all get your travel dreams to come true, too.
Wish me luck, as I wish you all luck.

Hi Lucy,
Italy is incredible, that's for sure. Tuscany, Venice, the "lakes district." Amazing up there in the pre-alps, snow on the mountains in June - the highest point in RI is about 600+ feet and I beleive the state landfill is about to take the title!
Let's hope we get to go back,
