Heard it was the hottest July day ever in the UK. (It was 110 here yesterday but today it's cool 103.) (43 and 39 - had to look it up - can't get the hang of Celsius...) |

Hot, UK? Other than the pretty girls, I don't think so LOL! It was 40 Celsius here yesterday. At 6 P.M.!!!!!
Then again, it is probably a lot more humid in the U.K. than here! |

I cannot cope with the humidity - I have a permanent headache and some sort of allergy and I'm drenched in perspiration. The pollution levels are alarming - that's if you can find a reading. Look on any weather site for the UK (particularly London) which has a heading for pollution levels and when it's bad, they just don't release the figures. Give me a desert heat anytime.

It's been so hot - hotter than Delhi they said yesterday!! Thing is, like Mike says, it is more humid than, say, Tucson, and so feels more uncomfortable at lower temps. Actually it didn't feel too humid yesterday - probably all the moisture in the air had been burnt away!!
We put up a paddling pool (not an inflatable one) for our dog so that he can cool down when he wants, and we only walk him when its cool, in the early morning or late evening. Of course we have had the usual STUPID STUPID people leaving their dogs in cars (basically a death sentence in the heat) and yesterday I read of a dog who had been left all day in a garden with no shade - sadly he died. These sort of people should not be able to have pets (sorry for the rant it just makes me so ANGRY!!!).
I have been in hotter climes - we were in Turkey a few years ago when it actually hit 50 C and the Govt closed all their offices because of the heat! Even then it felt better than it usually does here at 30! Give me a good dry heat anytime to our humidity!!! I could not live in a place like Hong Kong or whatever that has higher humidity.
It has now rained in the night here and it feels cooler and fresher - but then it is only 08.27!!

My advice is to get a ceiling fan! We have them in all our bedrooms and have slept comfortably.

Much too hot! I haven't been to work for three days because a bit unwell (not because of the heat but it doesn't help). At least there is air conditioning at work. My tiny little house is sweltering even with a fan. Last night was absolutely unbearable. The ceiling fans are good idea, Anne, will invest in one one day. |
