Anger Management.

I enjoyed this from Buddhist Teaching.
Anger in Buddhism is defined here as: "being unable to bear the object, or the intention to cause harm to the object". Anger is seen as aversion with a stronger exaggeration, and is listed as one of the five hindrances.
Interesting way of observing it.

Anger is definitely a hinderance to well being. But it can be used as motivation.

Anger is usually a detriment, but I have found that sometimes it's part of healing or gaining strength. When one is feeling helpless or victimized, often the way to break out of it is to get angry instead. You go from "I can't believe they did that to me" to "Sons-of-bitches! How DARE they do that to me! Well, I'm not gonna let 'em do that again, I'll tell you what." It can be a way of taking your power back. |

I need some anger management just right now! It is 11.40 p.m. and there are a gang of kids outside shouting and shrieking. Alright for them, their school holidays have started but some of us have to go to work tomorrow! One of them only looks about 6 years old. Can't understand the parents letting them stay up 'til so late.
Oh my gawd, I sound like a grumpy old woman!! |

Suzulu - Don't feel bad. I have the same tendency with the kids in my neighborhood. Most of them are okay. They're just being ... well, kids. Still, I swear sometimes I feel like I could drop kick them into the next county. Grumpy Old Women Unite! :)
Expressed in the right way, I think anger can be very useful. It's only when it gets out of control that it causes trouble.

Paxil comes in handy in a pinch LOL! I almost got in a road rage incident. My Doctor, Dr. Salazar said "no se bueno." I forgot all the stuff that has been going on in the last nine months. Even the most easygoing among us LOL!
I'm learning to blow it off, even when someone gives me the finger. I had to learn that if I react, I have made it MY problem. By not reacting, it remains the other persons.
More for the book on how not to get arrested LOL!

I know scary isn't it Cori? I said that to someone, "I'm from Brooklyn, I don't know no better!" They almost fell down laughing.

Hah hah hah! Laughter is my only effective anger managment remedy. It sounds corny, I realise, but fake it at first. It might take years, but eventually everything will seem amusing, or at least you will appreciate the humourous side of it.
As a younger man, a physical outlet worked well, like smashing a squash ball, digging in the garden or splitting some firewood. After repeated injury to my body, I 'developed' the laughter technique.

Susan Jeffers - "Feel the fear, and do it anyway."
Thanks, Doctor.
