Must-sees in Berlin? by Seraphina on 10 August 2006 3:17pm

Hi! Next week I`ll be going to Berlin with a friend of mine and I was wondering if there are any easily missed must-see things there... Of course we will check out all the regular things (Reichstag and such), but maybe someone has any suggestions to lesser known things to go and see :).

Greetings from the Netherlands!

Seraphina.

I was in Berlin last November just for a short trip and found loads of easy to miss things. Most of the cool stuff is in the former East. The way I found out about it was by doing a walking tour of the city http://www.berlinwalks.de/
this was very good. I enjoyed it so much I posted most of what I could recall about it online here http://uk.geocities.com/julwis_uk/Berlin/Berlin.htm
this isnt by any means complete though. Have a good trip

Hi! Thanks so much for your reply. Lovely pictures you have on your website, I forwarded it to my Berlin-buddy straight away :). Not sure if we are going to do one of the walks, but it`s worth considering (especially if it turns out we can`t find our way around there hehe). Thanks again!

Glad to be of help. Basically if you walk from the Berliner Dom/TV tower west along the Unter Den Linden then youll see most of whats on the walk. It then turns south at the Brandenberger Tor and goes towards Potsdammer platzer and then back towards Checkpoint Charlie. Its a great city once you get there, with so much thats hidden away. I took a walking tour as I was there for a short time and wanted to see as much as possible. The walks only take 4 or so hours so if you start on one in the morning then you can easily have a lot of the afternoon left over to go back to places. Word of advice about the Reichstag, the queue that you can just about see in the picture is about a 45 minute wait. Given the heightened security alert in the UK which now seems to have reached Paris, I imagine the wait might be even longer. The view is worth the wait though. You can go up the TV tower though and the view should be as good.
