  The Chatter Box : Travel
Fun travel partner wanted by stephenPaul on 27 October 2006 2:22pm
Calling all you adventure buffs out there. My name is Stephen and I work freelance at the BBC, writing comedy (badly) and presenting travelogues on BBC Radio Four - no I am not hugely successful, but my journeys thus far accross India on the sometimes comical story of the Enfield Bullet motorcycle and more arduous pursuits up the Himalaya on the look out for vultures, have been kindly broadcast on the BBC (they're are a nice lot) and even won critical acclaim. Now with my own recording equipment and foolhardy confidence, I plan to start my own 'un-commissioned' radio journeys, on seperate trips: one around South America and the other; north and south east asia: from the birthplace of the Ganges to anywhere else across asia that comes to mind. Visiting the world of spiritualism on a quest might be a subject to start with, but who knows, lets be open to ideas? Yes, plans all over the place I know. I am now looking for someone silly enough to join me. Please email me on [email protected], if you'd like to start some correspondence and start planning.

I'd like someone who has a great interest in the world, its people, the way they live and only a passing interest in traditional tourism, or a lonely planet book! - working together I want you to help me research possible stories to cover, unique adventures to be had that would make great radio - and all for no money, just for a journey of a life-time. Perhaps you already have some great ideas that we could look at. Send me an email and we can take it from there. Oh yes, and when am I planning to go? so far around early Jan 2007, As the first port of call, just send me an email detailing ideas you have and how you could help. [email protected]

thanks for listening

That's for sure. I was bouncing some ideas off him, since it is radio, not television. You are dependent on what you hear. I thought interesting people to interview. Made me think of Southside Virginia where I lived 20 years ago and where I am going for a conference next March. You can hear the 16th Century English West Country accents on Tangier Island. Or go to the Outer Banks of North Carolina as Patty did. How about the South Carolina and Georgia Sea Islands?

Our here, I thought of all the Native American places and next door Mexico. Keep thinking of themes and how to do it for radio.
