Two Intense BBC Shows by tucsonmike on 1 November 2006 6:14am

Last night was the new Cracker with Robbie Coltrane. Tonight was The Street. Both are written by Jimmy McGovern and both are set in Manchester. Now I am curious to visit Manchester.

Missed The Street, dammit, but the new Cracker was awesome! There's a "director's cut" of the Cracker on Comcast cable that I will definitely watch.
Hope BBCAmerica will repeat The Street but I know I will be looking for that missing digit on Spall; he's so indelibly Pettigrew in my mind.

manchester is a great city to visit if you go to the right places! very photogenic for a start, and plenty to do (especially if you enjoy some shopping therapy! :D)

I registed for the BBC America discussion board. For The Street, you can register to tell a story about your street.

I will explore it in more detail, but first I need a thirty hour day and to be independently wealthy.

If you want intense does anyone watch 'Spooks'? One of my favourite TV shows (when '24' is not on the air). Also looking forward to the new high octane series 'The State Within' airing on BBC tonight.

I have never seen 'Spooks' but I love '24' - I was most upset when they took it off BBC2, I only have the terrestrial channels.

Mike, see if you can find a copy of the British comedy/drama "Cold Feet". It's like "Friends", without the obnoxious people or the canned laughter. It's also set in Manchester - finished a few years ago now, but should be on DVD.
