The Ashes by Ellerd on 18 December 2006 6:12am

Don't feel too bad England, your team wasn't all that bad. You've just come up against one of the most powerful cricket teams in the history of the game. Better luck next time, huh?

sod that

they made silly decisions and their basics were in tatters.

they'd lose have lost to bangladesh.

what makes my comment so ironic is that it breaks my heart to say it. i was really hoping england would win.

as a south african it is my duty to want oz to lose.

Do I hear an "oi, oi, oi"? :o)

Re: The Ashes by kazzzz on 18 December 2006 9:17am

I'm sorry, I know I'm Australian but I cannot aupport anything that involves Shane Warne or some other cricketer (who was on the news) screaming "Australia you bloody beauty!"

Cringe cringe cringe.

When does the tennis start? :)

And how are your boys going against India, Martin? All out for 84 in the first innings! Ouch! ;-)

Missy, you will never hear me utter those words. Unless I'm drunk. Very drunk.

Kazzzz, you prefer Lleyton Hewitt's "COME ON"?

we've lost it!

we whitewashed them in the odi series and we lose the test match.

its a reverse from our usual results.

i really am quite shocked.

I've never uttered the "oi" word in public, to be honest. I much prefer that Englishman from the Barmy Army who brings his trumpet to the games and plays stirring themes like "Jerusalem". I think he's a trumpeter with some English orchestra. Fabulous!!

P.S. Is it just me, or does everyone else automatically think of that episode with the Pythons jumping in and out of the boxes whilst singing "Jerusalem"? I can't listen to it without thinking of them!!

I dislike cricket intensely but I have to say I am disappointed.

I have seen the actual Ashes trophy at Lords (my son was getting a national award which was held there, and we were given a tour of the dressing rooms, museum, where the Queen sits, etc). It's tiny! I mean, I know the history, but you'd have thought they'sd have put 'the ashes' in a bigger pot!
