Yeeeeeeeeessssss! My beloved Bono is getting an (honorary) knighthood!

Well deserved.

[For our overseas friends it is honorary because he isn't a UK citizen - he is Irish of course]

Why is it well-deserved?

And the American U2 fan rejoices! Yay!

Very well deserved for all the charity work he's done over the years with Amnesty and others.

It is deserved... Well done.

It has long been known that charity concerts, such as Live Aid and Live 8, etc., do little to help those for whom the concerts are intended, but rather sell more CDs for the artists who perform at said concerts. They are very long infomercials.

It is also well established that U2 moved its business operations from Ireland to The Netherlands when Ireland decided to reform its tax laws and start collecting from overpaid rock stars.

Hmm? Well-deserved? I don't think so. I will acknowledge that he is a good businessperson.

I don't like the guy and I care for U2 even less but it can't be said that he hasn't done a lot of good for those less fortunate.

And when they're handing out knighthoods willy nilly for as trivial a matter as winning a sporting trophy these days, I suppose it's deserved.
