The cinema 11th Feb by LeoLouise on 11 February 2007 11:14am
How did everyone find out about it??

I found out through my local paper and got so excited I couldn't stop crying...

then I rang up for tickets and it was sold out!

I was devastated!! and guessing that everyone knew before it went out in the papers! How did everyone hear about it??

To whoever is going, have an amazing time and give him a cheer from me!!

I am going and I will cheer for you. :)

I only found out through Sue, otherwise I doubt I would've heard about it. Wouldn't it be nice if this site clued us in on events like this...Webmaster?

I agree. It would be nice to be told about these events in advance. That way, we might have more of a chance of going...

Sorry for the delay - school's been hectic this week...

Firstly, the Phoenix posted some lovely photos from the event:

(no, that's not a grail he's holding - it's flowers that the cinema gave him after the talk.)

Michael came in after a screening of the Holy Grail. A reporter from the Guardian (i think) moderated a Q&A with him. MP was very upbeat. The audience asked mostly Python/Grail questions. A few people asked specifics about who wrote certain parts. Someone asked him where "Ni" came from, and he said it was a noise a librarian from his school made while crouching down to shelve the books. Someone asked him about progress on New Europe. He said there's 3 countries left to visit (Slovakia and 2 others I forget). And he's in the process of writing the book for it now. He had a travel bag with him (as you can see in the photo). It was cute to see him with that, even in London. He said he still keeps a diary and his publisher wants to keep publishing them as long as he keeps staying alive to edit them. Someone also asked him what comedians today he thinks have the same "shock" value as Python. He said Python never tried to be shocking - they just questioned alot of accepted ideas at the time. Then after the Q&A, I thought he'd read from the Diaries, but instead he read from the book on the Grail. He read 2 letters asking about removing some offending words and phrases, which were hilarious. Then he gave a very animated reading of 'King Brian the Wild", an edited scene from the movie. It was extremely amusing to hear him give a live "performance". So the reading was quite a treat. In total he spoke for an hour. He wasn't supposed to do a book signing afterwards, but he was swamped by fans in the lobby and stayed and signed everyone's book. The theater also raffled off some items including Spamalot tickets (which I did not win). But it was so delightful to see the movie on the big screen and hear him read live. Wonderul! :)

...And thanks to Sue for getting the ticket for me. I'm thinking healing thoughts for your wrist! :)
