Fave old pop tunes by johnnythemonkey on 19 February 2007 2:24am

This has been going around my head for days!

Oh Carol
Greenfield/Sedaka

Oh Carol , I Am But a Fool
Darling I Love Though You Treat Me Cruel
You Hurt Me And You Make Me Cry
But If You Leave Me I Will Surely Die

Darling There Will Never Be Another
'Cause I Love You So
Don't Ever Leave Me
Say You'll Never Go
I Will Always Want You For My Sweet Heart
No Matter What You Do
Oh Carol I'm Still In Love With You

Oh Carol I Am But a Fool
Darling I Love You
Though You Treat Me Cruel
You Hurt Me And You Make Me Cry
But If You Leave Me I Will Surely Die

Darling There Will Never Be Another
'Cause I Love You So
Don't Ever Leave Me
Say You'll Never Go
I Will Always Want You For My Sweet Heart
No Matter What You Do
Oh Carol I'm Still In Love With You

Hee hee, and I thought some of the early Beatles tracks were cheesy...but this one takes the cake!

Cheesy Heather?I can identify with every word,just don't know any "Carol"!!
And the Beatles did'nt write any cheesy songs,just that ass Mc Cartney.Lennon wrote the good stuff.

You speak truth, but Harrison beats Lennon generally speaking. Then again, I'm biased against Lennon/McCartney. :D

Wild Thing by The Troggs
http://www.classicbands.com/troggs.html
(chorus)Wild thing
you make my heart sing
you make everything...groovy.

Wild thing, I think I love you
But I wanna know for sure
Come on and hold me tight
I love you

(chorus)

Wild thing, I think you move me
But I wanna know for sure
So c'mon and hold me tight
You move me

Wild thing
C'mon, c'mon, wild thing
Shake it, shake it, wild thing
{Repeat to fade}

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Then there's the Weird Pete Yankovic version sung to the same tune (written as the theme song for Weightwatchers):
Wide thing
you make my eyes sting
you eat everything
Wide thing
I think you outweigh me
but I'll run from you till I drop
Wide thing...can I have the top?
Oh Lord It's Hard to be Humble by Mac Davis
click here to listen to Mac singing this tune:
http://www.minibite.com/oldies/humble.htm
Oh Lord it's hard to be humble
When you're perfect in every way
I can't wait to look in the mirror
Cuz I get better lookin each day
To know me is to love me
I must be a hell of a man
Oh Lord it's hard to be humble
But I'm doin' the best that I can
I used to have a girlfriend
But I guess she just couldn't compete
With all these love starved women
Who keep clamoring at my feet
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Weird Pete's Version:

Oh Lord it's hard to be humble
When you're perfect in every way
I can't wait to look in the mirror
Cuz I get better lookin each day

I once met a fine Chaquita
Who thought she was made of hot stuff
She said I couldn't satisfy her
She said I wasn't man enough

Well I bought her another Margarita
And I walzed her around the dance floor
Took her home and showed that fine woman
That this man had oh so much more

Oh Lord it's hard to be humble
When you're perfect in every way
I can't wait to look in the mirror
Cuz I get better lookin each day

Thank you, thank you very much...

Any Queen fans here? I've had Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy stuck in my head for a while.

I can dim the lights and sing you songs full of sad things
We can do the tango just for two
I can serenade and gently play on your heart strings
Be your valentino just for you

Ooh love - ooh loverboy
What're you doin' tonight, hey boy
Set my alarm, turn on my charm
That's because I'm a good old-fashioned lover boy

Ooh let me feel your heartbeat (Grow faster, faster)
Ooh ooh can you feel my love heat
Come on and sit on my hot-seat of love
And tell me how do you feel right after-all
I'd like for you and I to go romancing
Say the word - your wish is my command

Ooh love - ooh loverboy
What're you doin' tonight, hey boy
Write my letter
Feel much better
And use my fancy patter on the telephone

When I'm not with you
I think of you always
(I miss those long hot summer nights)
I miss you
When I'm not with you
Think of me always
Love you - love you

Hey boy where do you get it from
Hey boy where did you go ?
I learned my passion in the good old
Fashioned school of loverboys

Dining at the Ritz we'll meet at nine precisely
(One two three four five six seven eight nine o' clock)
I'll pay the bill, you taste the wine
Driving back in style, in my saloon will do quite nicely
Just take me back to yours that will be fine (Come on and get it)

Ooh love, (There he goes again just like a good old-fashioned lover boy)
Ooh loverboy
What're you doin' tonight, hey boy
Everything's all right
Just hold on tight
That's because I'm a good old-fashioned fashioned lover boy

A Queen song I'd never heard! Yay!

Yes, I like them. 'Killer Queen' is fun to dance to when no one's watching, hahaha.
